Collection: Rebecca Barker

Rebecca grew up on her family's dairy farm in Oxford, Ohio. Her childhood appreciation for farm and country life inspires the subjects she paints today. She began painting in her early teens and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Ohio University. She also attended Miami University's graduate painting school.

Rebecca is presently working on a series of paintings she dubs "quiltscapes." Quilts hang on a clothes line in the foreground and the background image depicts a panoramic landscape, often representing the title of the quilt pattern. "Quilts are about love and hard work which is what farm life is all about. The two subjects naturally fit together."

"I draw from my childhood. I paint what I feel a lot about." Rebecca paints her farm landscapes and quilts in acrylic paints on hardboard. She works from drawings and photographs taken from visits to the country. She has a realistic style with clean, clear colors and a sensitivity to composition, texture, and the country life.
