Collection: Jose Manuel Reyes Ruiz

Atmospheric and intoxicating, the sumptuous still life and underwater images of Spanish artist Reyes offers a hyper-realistic examination of some of the subjects that are closest to his heart. Born and brought up in Valencia, now lives and works as an artist in Madrid, but as an art student he travelled extensively, visiting galleries in almost every European country. He supported himself at this time by selling his paintings and working in vineyards; he became both an aficionado and a painter of wine and has undertaken many prestigious commissions for vineyards in France and Spain. In 2014 he was commissioned by the city of Jerez, the home of sherry, to create a series of paintings as part of its celebration as the European City of Wine in 2014.

Jose Manuel’s work has been exhibited successfully across Spain and Portugal, in cities including Barcelona, Seville, Lisbon and Sintra. In 2010 he was the winner of the Figueras/Roses Newcomers Art Prize.
